Treatment Of AcneA few simple steps to treat AcneThe treatment of mild cases of acne are fairly simple and straightforward. The great majority of teenagers who have acne problems will naturally overcome, or grow out of, the acne problems on their own. There are however a few things that can help even the small cases of acne. Here are a few tips for treating acne. The single best treatment, or remedy, is to practice good hygiene by keeping the face and surrounding areas clean. The object is to keep the oils, called sebum, off the face. The release of the sebum is triggered by the increased levels of hormones in maturing teens. For a slightly better explanation of how this happens, see what causes Acne. You should wash your face two times per day, usually when you get up and late in the evening, with a warm wash cloth and either medicated or unscented soap. After washing your face, rinse with warm water to make sure that all of the soap and natural oils are removed. One mistake that many teens make is washing their face too many times a day. This can dry out and/or irritate the skin and cause additional problems. It is a fine balance that should be maintained, as having not enough natural oil in the skin is probably as bad as having too much. When I was a teenager, my mother would tell me that my diet, which consisted of many things that weren't necessarily good for me, would make my acne worse. While this may or may not be true, it is probably a good idea to avoid chocolate and fried foods as much as possible. There isn't a good reason to take a chance, whether it is true or not. You should keep track of what you have been eating when you have a bad outbreak. If a pattern seems to form, as simple change in diet may work wonders. For treating slightly more difficult cases of acne, there are many over-the-counter medications available. There are creams and ointments available, and it may take some trial and error to find the one that works best for you. Talk to your pharmacist as he or she should be able to recommend the best choices. Severe Acne TreatmentIf you have severe and/or persistent acne problems, it is best to see a doctor. There are prescription medications and treatments available. Some of the popular ones are Accutane, Differin, Erythromycin, Retin-A and Doryx. There are also acne scar treatment and acne laser treatment tips and links available.
