    I have always found it fascinating what the political leaders get paid for serving in political office. Of course these salaries don't include many of the fringe benefits and opportunities allotted to politicians, but they get paid well for what they do. Here is a list that is fairly accurate as of late 2005 / early 2006.

Vice President    $208,100

Cabinet Heads    $180,100  (These include Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, etc.)

Supreme Court Chief Justice    $208,100

Supreme Court associate justice    $199,200

Senators    $162,100

House of Representatives    $162,100

State Governors range from     $70,000 to $179,000 (Below are some of the highs and lows)

New York    $179,000

Michigan    $177,000

California    $175,000

New Jersey    $175,000

Virginia    $175,000

Vermont    $168,466

Illinois    $150,691

Connecticut    $150,000
