Building a Web SiteIf you are like me, you don't know much of anything about HTML, which is the language you need to build web pages for the Internet. HTML is a special language that is converted by web browsers into the pages that we end up seeing on the Internet. The good news is that you don't have to learn a new computer language to publish web sites now. There are HTML editors readily available that allow you to put what you want on a page and they convert it into HTML for the web. These are called what-you-see-is-what-you-get or WYSIWYG programs. The two most popular ones are: Microsoft FrontpageProduced by Microsoft, if you can use Windows, Word and/or Excel, you will be able to learn Frontpage in no time at all. Macromedia DreamweaverI don't have much experience with Macromedia Dreamweaver, but have been told it is fairly easy to use, just like Frontpage. Though both of these programs convert your pages into HTML, they will require some learning on your part. I use Microsoft Frontpage for all of my sites, including this one, but I have friends who use Macromedia Dreamweaver and like it just as well. There are support forums and pages available for each of these products and they are not the only two available, just the two that I can recommend. Both of these software's are a bit on the expensive side, starting at just over $100, but the nice thing is that it is a one-time purchase and you can use either one of them to build as many web sites as you want to. I have built my site, now what?Once you have built your site, you need to load it to your hosting account, which you linked to your domain name. Each of the above programs offer a function that makes this a simple step. Most people use something called ftp, which is file transfer protocol, if I'm not mistaken, to load their web pages. Don't be scared by all of this technical talk. The WYSIWYG editors will take care of all of this for you with just a couple quick mouse clicks.
